Welcome to Montagnard

Alpine Walking Courses - La Grave and Les Ecrins

The French Alps are host to some of the most spectacular and varied mountain scenery in Europe. With the well known high peaks such as Mont Blanc (4807m) and Les Grandes Jorasses (4208m) complete with their formidable north faces and tumbling glaciers to the progressively less rugged regions of the Vanoise, Vercors and Alpes du Haute Provence.

Sitting quietly amongst these areas are the Ecrins and Cerces National Park regions. Offering big peaks such as the Barre des Ecrins (4102m), Mont Pelvoux (3943m) and La Meije (3983m), together with stunning glaciers and valleys. The region also boasts many accessible mountain paths (called Grande Randonnees) including the GR54 Tour de l'Oisans et des Ecrins and GR57 Mont Thabor. The huge variety of terrain in this area means that walks of all level, length and difficulty can be found to cover the interests of everyone.

Montagnard offer you the chance to experience some of the best walks in the region. Whether you want to hike up to glaciers, traverse high mountain passes, link mountain huts, complete circular tours, or amble through forests and over easy alpine meadows........it is all available.............and don't forget that the area is rich in flora and fauna so not only are the hillsides covered in colourful flowers but you can expect to come across chamois, boqueton, royal eagles and lots of marmots!

Montagnard will arrange a fully guided trip for as many days and to whatever level you require. Guiding is available from June-Oct. A typical weeks stay would include a valley walk to help you acclimatise and familiarise yourself to the area, walks across the Plateau d'Emparis with options to climb the peaks of Pic du Mas de la Grave (3020m), Le Gros Tet (2613m) and Aig du Goleon (3427m), tours through the Cerces impressive limestone scenery, trips in to the heart of the mighty Ecrins, with possibilities to over night in an Alpine hut and a visit to get close up to the glaciers.

Guiding can be on a Private basis or as part of a Group (see further Group activity/date details). Accommodation will be arranged in Le Chazelet with options ranging from B&B to self catering Gite or hotel as required.

The activity options are endless so just let us know what your interests are and we will endeavour to plan a great trip for you. Just contact Darren now!
