Snowshoeing courses and winter walks in the French Alps
Alpine winter walking and snowshoeing has grown rapidly in popularity over recent years. This is due to the guarantee of great snow conditions, crisp alpine air, blue sky and ease of movement using snowshoes. Modern snowshoes are light, easy to use and provide a mode of transport in deep snow that would otherwise require the ability and use of touring skis.
The hinged bindings fit any walking boot providing a secure platform in soft deep snow and with in-built crampon points they are firm on any harder surfaces too.
As with our summer walking/trekking courses we offer fully guided showshoe trips in and around the Ecrins National Park in the French Alps. We provide all the necessary equipment including avalanche transceivers (not that we will take you out in dangerous snow conditions!) so all you need is regular winter walking gear and the appetite to discover virgin snow-fields, tranquil forests and spectacular panoramas.
Whatever your interest and fitness levels there are numerous treks and sights to experience - whether you are looking for easy going walks through the forest or to explore the non-glacial peaks of the Ecrins, Cerces and Queyras national and regional parks.
